The Perfect day out at Drusillas

Last week Thursday, we spent the day in East Sussex at Drusillas Zoo Park. We arrived just before 10 am and left at 3 pm as my youngest had fallen asleep on the swing- check out my stories to see exactly what I am talking about.

This was our second time visiting Drusillas, but it will not be our last. What a perfect day out for the boys. I particularly love Drusillas because it’s brilliant for little ones and is thoughtfully designed for pre-schoolers.

Everything is at the perfect height for them; there are so many interactive stations that encourage you and your little one to learn as you go along. For us, the Animal Spotter booklet was excellent. It helped the boys stay engaged. Furthermore, my eldest was all too excited at the opportunity of stamping every time he found an animal along the way. I guess it’s an achievement for them.

Our highlight at the Zoo was the Rainbow Lorikeets- oh my goodness, they are just soo stunning. In Lory Landing, you can feed them with a cup of nectar; each pot is £1, and they only take cash. I was so impressed the boys were so brave.

Okay, so what I love about Drusillas is that the fun doesn’t stop at the Zoo. They have some brilliant rides and so much adventure play across different ages. My eldest, who is just over 90 cm, could go on all the rides- RESULT! Guys, this never happens! My youngest was also able to go on all but one, and he is under 90 cm (18 months). Now, do you understand when I say it’s so thoughtfully designed for little ones?

The boys LOVED the Safari Train ride; we got to see the camels real up close to. I feel like all children around their age are obsessed with trains. But it was the Jurassic Jungle that wowed them, a fantastic immersive experience for all dinosaur lovers.

Unfortunately, due to the weather, we didn’t take full advantage of the splash park. It’s a must-do during the warmer months, so don’t forget your swimsuits. Worst case scenario, they stock some in their store on site.

I would mention that the second time we visited, we went on a weekday. The first time we visited it was on an August weekend. This time around, it was less busy, which was just perfect as the boys got to take their time and explore. So, if you are at home with your little ones during the week, I would recommend you take advantage.
