Room2, Southampton Hometel

Last weekend we enjoyed a staycation in the beautiful Hampshire.

We spent two nights at room2 in Southampton. Southampton is just over an hour a half from London by car.

It was perfect for our short city break in every case of the word. room2 Southampton is the world’s first hometel. You have all the comforts, flexibility and relaxed rules of your home, but also the security, comfort and services of a hotel.

room2 is perfectly situated in-between Southampton City Centre and Ocean Village.

There are plenty of attractions and amenities too, such as Westquay shopping centre this is a 3 mins drive from room2, although we just walked and it was under 15 minutes. There are loads of restaurants and shops so you’ll be spoilt for choice.

Paultons Park Home of Peppa Pig World was 18 mins away, and you also have Gunwharf Quays, a Designer Outlet, which is a 30 mins drive. Here you will also find the Emirates Spinnaker Tower.

Design

Right from the moment you enter the bedrooms at room2, you can see their rooms are at least a third bigger than the average hotel room for the same price.

As soon as we walked in, Avery exclaimed, ‘A moon!’. He was referring to the circular dual-tone headboard design above out bed. Which he rightly called out looks like a full moon! We loved the subtle nautical feel, especially being in the port city of Southampton. The comfy velvet sofa, which Levi couldn’t get enough of!

We stayed in one of the Master Bedrooms, which was so spacious and accommodated two additional large travel cots for both Avery and Levi.

If you have older children who can sleep on a bunk bed, I’d recommend the Master Lofts. You can take advantage of the mezzanine deck. The deck and interior features are not dissimilar to those found onboard traditional cruise liners. Children will love this- plus those rooms are enormous!

We loved the comfort and the fact we felt like a home away from home. When travelling with the boys, I am always looking for somewhere that caters for families. Here we had a Kitchen in the room, including a dishwasher and fridge and microwave. Not a kitchenette- we had a hob top. But, even with this, you still get breakfast!

Food and more

room2 are also currently running an Explorer Package deal and a more extended staying package for those who need a place to quarantine when entering the country. The Explorer Package includes an overnight stay, a breakfast bag each, parking and a drink from the pantry.

There is also a Living Room, pantry, a gym and laundry room! It was brilliant, and we cannot wait to return.

Thank you room2, for having us, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

This is a press trip, sponsored by room2 in exchange for an honest and transparent review. As always, my views remain my own.
