12 Lavender Fields to Explore in Summer 2023

Visiting lavender fields, like our family favourite, Castle Farm, makes for a delightful day out from June to August when the lavender is typically in bloom. Given the ever-changing availability, it’s crucial to check with farms directly. The breathtaking purple vistas and aromatic experience make this annual family outing unforgettable.

Here are 12 lavender fields around London and further afield:

Cambridgeshire

Cambridgeshire Lavender (The Heath, Bluntisham): Barnfield farm is open on weekends, a picturesque field where you can wander through the undulating rows of lavender. From 17 Jun.

Essex

Finchingfield Camping (Finchingfield): A small and friendly Lavender farm and campsite, and like to keep things quiet and peaceful for the enjoyment of the day visitors and campers. Therefore, there is a limited number of day visitors permitted each day. Online bookings only. 29 Jun (weather dependent) – end of Aug.

Hampshire

The Lavender Fields (Hartley Park Farm, Selborne): Provides beautiful sights of lavender fields; they also sell lavender plants and products. Enjoy an Evening at The Lavender Fields on 21 Jul.

Hertfordshire

Hitchin Lavender (Ickleford, Hitchin): A 30-acre farm where you can pick your own lavender. From 17 Jun

Kent

Castle Farm (halfway between the villages of Shoreham and Eynsford, Kent): Known for their lavender fields, they also have a range of products in their farm shop. Our favourite! You can enjoy picnics, guided tours and walks in the lavender fields. From 29 Jun.

Surrey

Mayfield Lavender Farm (Banstead): A 25-acre lavender farm, often a favourite for photographers due to its scenic beauty. Enjoy the NEW Lavender Theatre, afternoon tea, and sunset evenings. From 10 Jun.

Sussex

Lordington Lavender (Chichester, West Sussex): A small English lavender field open for specific periods during the summer. There are also Lavender Wellbeing Experiences and Evening Tickets. From 12 Jul.

  • Cotswold Lavender (Broadway, Worcestershire): Fields of Lavender, a tea shop, and a gift shop offering lavender products. 14 Jun – 06 Aug.
  • Somerset Lavender (Faulkland, Somerset): This farm boasts 5 acres of lavender; you can walk around the fields and enjoy a range of lavender and herb products in their farm shop. Late Jun – early August.
  • Norfolk Lavender (Heacham, Norfolk): Over 100 different types of lavender can be seen here. It is one of the oldest lavender farms in the UK.
  • Yorkshire Lavender (Terrington, North Yorkshire): Offers a large lavender and herb plant nursery, a lavender maze, and a deer park. End of Jun /Jul.
  • Shropshire Lavender (Pickstock, Newport): A small family-run lavender farm, set in the North Shropshire countryside. Dates TBC.
