We decided to drive an hour and a half to Buckinghamshire to visit Gulliver’s Land Theme Park Resort in Milton Keynes. We arrived at 10 am for a 10.30 start and left at 2.30 pm. When we arrived, there was already a few people queuing up to get in. We had already booked our tickets online to avoid disappointment.

Once the gates opened, you just show your ticket and have a quick non-invasive temperature check, and you’re in. This is only done for over 3s. Unfortunately, no maps are being handed out, and there is no interactive app like the other Theme Parks we’ve been to. There are big maps posted around the park for guidance.
Rides
We managed to go on a total of 11 rides, 10 with Avery and 9 with Levi. There were 24 rides listed on the website. The queues were non-existent or moved rather quickly. The site allows you to put a height guide for your child; it then lists the rides you can go on. Unfortunately, the website told us we could go on 12 rides based on the minimum height requirement of 80 cm; however, you had to be minimum of 120 cm for the Giant Boots ride, and the interactive Indoor Play Area was of course closed. That was a bit of a shame. We had to wear our masks on ALL of the rides; this doesn’t apply to those under 3.

Please don’t take for granted being 90 cm will get you on all the rides, there are still some that require you to be 120 cm+. Check the website before you book so you can make an informed decision.
At around 2.10 pm when we were making our way to the exit, we saw rides being temporarily suspended for cleaning for 30 minutes. That may be a great time to get lunch or enjoy other attractions. Â Also, always BYO wipes. I love Clinell/ Dettol.
It is important to note that the rides and attractions operate on a traffic light system. The traffic light system is there to alert us to the different levels of risk of virus transmission associated with each separate attraction.
- Green: This applies to low, gentle rides and non-operator attractions where there is a reliance on us to wash our hands before and after use.
- Amber: Medium-speed rides which may include a spinning motion or some forces.
- Red: High-speed rides, rides with over shoulder restraint systems and rides with an element of our control. Play areas where there is a reliance on us to wash our hands before and after use. High-ropes attractions where close contact is a necessity in a rescue situation.
Attractions
Apart from the rides, there are also other attractions you can experience throughout the park. To name a few; Avery enjoyed the Gully’s Outdoor Play, there is also the Cowboy Town which is great for role play, the Sand Dig for all the sand lovers and so much more.

Eateries
We decided to have our lunch from one of the eateries this time because I simply couldn’t be bothered to wake up early to make a packed lunch. We ate at Gully’s Grill at the Lilliput Land Castle. They serve a selection of classic burgers, hot dogs and chicken nuggets. You can choose from Beef, Chicken and Spicy Bean burgers and a selection of sides and drinks. The food was quite good. You can book your food in advance online to avoid queues.

Splash Zone
We had also hoped to visit the Splash Zone for a couple of hours, the indoor water attraction, however, this was closed. This isn’t clear on the website. This isn’t included in the Theme Park, it is an additional ÂŁ8 per child and is suitable for 2 – 13-year olds and the child has to be at least 1 m to use the slides. The water isn’t deep enough to swim in; there are sprays, streams and super slides. They do, of course, sell swimwear, but I will always advise you to bring your own to avoid spending unnecessary money.

Gulliver’s Dinosaur and Farm Park
We also wanted to visit Gulliver’s Dinosaur and Farm Park; however, this was fully booked. I suggest you book this ticket along with your Theme Park ticket online. They operate on, a track and trace currently, so all tickets must be completed online anyway. Due to COVID there is no upgrade; it is an entirely different ticket. There are additional ticket prices, ÂŁ10.50 per person for two hours and they have three rides in there. It’s a 7/8-minute walk from the theme park- you don’t need to move your car if you’re driving.

Despite these shortfalls, we enjoyed the four hours we spent there. I would recommend this Theme Park on the basis you were also visiting the Dinosaur and Farm Park- even better if the Splash Zone is open. If you live in Milton Keynes, then the Theme park alone is sufficient for a quick trip. While the Theme Park is designed for 2 – 13-year-olds, I would further recommend this Theme Park for under 2s, you would at least get to go on at least nine rides as long as your child can sit down unaided. Plus, you have some lovely attractions too.
