AquaDome Billund: An Unforgettable Family Adventure in Scandinavia’s Largest Waterpark

Have you ever stumbled upon a hidden gem during your family travels? We discovered one such treasure last year during our visit to Billund, a small town in Jutland, Denmark that’s jam-packed with exciting attractions for the whole family. In this blog post, I’ll share our experience at AquaDome Waterpark at Lalandia Billund, Scandinavia’s largest waterpark, and why it should be on your must-visit list!

Making Our Way to AquaDome

So, firstly, there are three Lalandia Holiday centres, similar to the likes of Center Parcs and Butlins in the UK. The NEWEST edition is in Søndervig; you then have Rødby and Billund. It stands to good reason that we visited Lalandia Billund.

Getting to Lalandia Billund is quite convenient and it is located near Billund Airport, I’ll cover how we got there and what you need to know about parking and transportation options. Billund Airport is less than a 10-minute drive from Lalandia, and taxi services are available for around DKK 100 (≈ £11.78) each way. If you plan to drive, parking is available by the main entrance to the tropical holiday centre. It’s free for one hour, but it will cost DKK 60 (≈ £7.07) per visit for a longer visit.

Splashing Around in AquaDome Waterpark

AquaDome Waterpark has something for everyone, from thrilling slides to relaxing pools and saunas. We particularly enjoyed the various attractions, including the wave pool, lazy river, and water cannons. The park also features shallow water in many of its attractions, which was reassuring for us as parents. The children’s pools were warmer, making them perfect for younger children and babies. We rented swim belt floats for our children, but in hindsight, we should have brought our own armbands, as the floats were not ideal for deeper water. It’s also worth noting that while lifeguards were present, we would have preferred seeing more active-looking staff members monitoring the pools.

Essential AquaDome Information

Before you plan your visit to AquaDome Billund, there are a few important details to keep in mind. Towels can be rented at the waterpark for DKK 20 (≈ £2.36) each, and the facilities, including family rooms, were clean. A food court inside the waterpark also offers hot food and cold snacks. Lalandia is a 7-minute walk from the LEGOLAND theme park and a 20-minute walk (12-minute bus ride or 5-minute drive) from LEGO House, making it an ideal location for families seeking multiple attractions.

The AquaDome is open later during school holidays, with closing times at 7:30 pm, which is perfect for enjoying the park in the evening after visiting other attractions. We recommend allocating at least 3 to 4 hours for your visit to the AquaDome Billund to fully enjoy the various pools, water slides, and relaxation areas without feeling rushed. If you plan on spending more time lounging or taking advantage of additional facilities like the spa or dining options, you may want to consider extending your visit to a full day.

Residential guests at Lalandia have free entry to the AquaDome. If, like us, you are not staying in one of the holiday homes, you can still pay to enter the AquaDome. Adults are DKK 319 (£37.60), and Children (under 12) DKK 269 (£31.71). Children under 3 are FREE.

AquaDome Waterpark at Lalandia Billund is an unforgettable family adventure that should not be missed during your visit to Billund. With its incredible array of water attractions, clean facilities, and convenient location near other popular attractions, it’s no wonder our boys left with tears in their eyes, eager to return. Don’t miss out on this hidden gem in Denmark.
