If you’re planning a family trip to Denmark, make sure to add the LEGO House to your itinerary. This iconic attraction in Billund is a mecca for LEGO fans of all ages. We visited the LEGO House with our two boys, aged 3 and 4, and it was one of the highlights of our entire trip.
We spent over 5 hours at the LEGO House, but we would strongly recommend planning for a full day if possible. Our boys had so much fun that they didn’t want to leave. There are so many things to see and do here that even adults can’t resist the temptation to play with the LEGO bricks.Public FREE Spaces
Let’s start by talking about the parts of the LEGO House that are accessible to the public for free.

The LEGO Square
The LEGO Square is a great starting point, the central hub and heart of the LEGO House. This spacious area serves as a gathering point for visitors; it square features several distinctive design elements that showcase the creativity and innovation of LEGO. It is paved with large, colourful, interlocking LEGO brick-shaped tiles, evoking a playful atmosphere that immediately immerses visitors in the world of LEGO. Additionally, there are several large-scale LEGO sculptures and models located throughout the square, showcasing the endless possibilities that can be achieved with LEGO bricks. These models, built by skilled LEGO Master Builders, inspire and encourage creativity among visitors.
The Nine rooftop terraces and the creative MONSTRUM Playgrounds
There are nine fantastic roof terraces with MONSTRUM playgrounds that will blow your mind!
So, what’s the deal with these terraces? Picture this: amazing, colourful spaces designed with creativity oozing from every corner. It’s like stepping into a LEGO wonderland on the rooftop! And the best part? These terraces are totally free for everyone to enjoy. Yay!
But wait, it gets even better! The amazing people at MONSTRUM have crafted these super-fun playgrounds, making them perfect for children and adults alike. Imagine climbing, sliding, and exploring some of the most epic play structures ever, with the clouds and blue skies as your backdrop. Trust us, you won’t want to leave!
Now, you might be wondering, “Why should I check out these terraces?” Well, let us tell you, they’re not just any ordinary playgrounds. Each one is designed with a unique theme that’ll spark your imagination and make you feel like a LEGO master builder yourself. Get ready to unleash your inner child and dive into a world of LEGO magic! Do not miss this part of the LEGO House! It is important to note that three of the nine MONSTRUM playgrounds are only accessible if you have a ticket; these are the Helicopter Ride (Blue Zone), the Forest Ride (Yellow Zone) and the Empire State Building (Green Zone).
You can also access the LEGO Store and the LEGO-inspired Eateries, but we will get into that shortly.
Experience Zones
Now, let’s talk about the Experience Zones, which require a ticket. The LEGO Square provides access to the various zones of the LEGO House, including the Experience Zones, the Masterpiece Gallery, and the History Collection. The Experience Zones are the heart of the LEGO House, offering immersive experiences designed to spark creativity and imagination. Each zone is filled with interactive exhibits, games, and challenges for children of all ages.
Our boys loved the Red Zone, which is all about creativity and building. They spent hours building towers, houses, and cars with LEGO bricks. My youngest particularly loved the DUPLO section. The Green Zone is all about emotions and expression, and it’s a great place to let your children explore their feelings and learn about empathy. The Blue Zone is all about logic and problem-solving, with challenges that will test your children’ critical thinking skills. Finally, the Yellow Zone is all about socialization and collaboration, and it’s a great place to make new friends and work together on fun projects.
The Masterpiece Gallery totally blew our minds! It’s filled with jaw-dropping LEGO creations crafted by some insanely talented fans from all around the world. From intricate cityscapes to mind-boggling sculptures, there’s no limit to what these master builders can do with those tiny bricks. You can’t help but feel inspired!
But the real hidden gem is the History Collection. We took a trip down memory lane as we discovered the humble beginnings of LEGO, from its early wooden toys to the birth of the iconic LEGO brick we all know and love. It’s crazy to think how far they’ve come! Some real blasts from the past, like vintage LEGO sets and classic ads, gave us some major nostalgia vibes.

So, if you’re at the LEGO House, don’t skip the History Collection! Just pop down there for a bit – it’s a fantastic way to appreciate the incredible journey of LEGO and get inspired by the creativity of fellow LEGO enthusiasts. Trust us; it’s definitely worth your time!
MINI CHEF Restaurant
Check out the MNI CHEF restaurant if you want a unique dining experience. It’s a one-of-a-kind restaurant where the food is created using LEGO bricks. Yes, you read that right! The dishes are served on LEGO plates, and the utensils are also made of LEGO bricks. It’s a fun and memorable experience that we won’t forget.
Top Tips
- One thing to note is that the LEGO House can get quite busy, especially during peak season. We visited in the Autumn on the weekend, and there were crowds. Still, the attraction is so well organized that it doesn’t feel overwhelming. However, if you’re looking for a quieter experience, you might consider visiting during off-peak times.
- Another tip is to plan your visit in advance. You can buy tickets online, saving you time and hassle when you arrive. You can also check the LEGO House website for information on special events and exhibitions that might be taking place during your visit.
- Try and arrange your visit in good weather. During bad weather, the playgrounds can be closed off. You really do not want to miss out on these.
Overall, our visit to LEGO House was a fantastic experience that we highly recommend to anyone visiting Denmark. It’s a great way to spend a day, and there’s something for everyone here. From the immersive Experience Zones to the Monstrum playgrounds, the LEGO House offers a unique and exciting adventure you will never forget. We’re already planning our next trip back, and we can’t wait to see what new exhibits and experiences they have in store.
