Stay in Corfu: Almyros Beach Resort & Spa

We decided to pluck up the courage and spend five nights in the Island of Corfu, Greece at the beautiful Almyros Resort and SPA a 5-star All-Inclusive Hotel. Corfu forms part of the travel corridor list and therefore no quarantine on return is required. This list is subject to change. We visited on 26 September to 1 October 2020. It is important to note that the Tourist season for Corfu is from May to October.

Location

If you fly into Kerkyra International Airport, then you are about a 45-minute drive to Almyros Beach Resort and Spa. Now, you may think that’s a bit of a drive but when you realise that you’re about to be served uninterrupted relaxation, unique views and unspoilt landscapes, then 45 minutes doesn’t seem long at all.

Almyros Beach Resort & Spa by V-Hotels is located in the medium-size town of Acharavi. Almyros Beach Resort is only 2.5 kilometres away from the centre of Acharavi, where you can find all your shopping needs. Here you will enjoy unrivalled views of the Albanian coast; I’m talking picture-perfect views. Acharavi lies in the middle of the affluent northeastern coast of Kassiopi and Roda villages which is perfect for summertime tourism.  Almyros Beach Resort & Spa is located on the beautiful Almiros beach and is the most popular beach in the city. The beach is quite long and very well-organised. It is sandy, and the water is shallow and usually calm, making it ideal, especially for young children.

Design & Character

Almyros Beach Resort is perched on the North Seaside of Corfu Island, behind the whole area stands Mount Pantokrator which is 914 m high, surrounded by unspoilt green villages, beachfront and did I mention the Albanian Coat. From every angle of Almyros, Beach Resort oozes beauty. You’re either looking at the crystal blue tropical waters, taking in the breath-taking views of the horizon or trying to work out if the super clear mountain tops are indeed reality or a figment of your imagination because everything is just so perfectly placed. Let’s just say your eyes can never get tired of the property, Almyros Beach Resort is built in a historic village that carries the traditions of Corfiots, keeping alive the images of the past and its fascinating bygone era. The verdant nature is maintained throughout the grounds, brown wood beams and green palm trees, absolutely stunning.

The Main Building houses the Pasithea SPA (Hamman, Sauna and Gym), Helios the main restaurant, two of the four bars and upstairs you’ll find the rooftop with another bar where you can enjoy even better views of the Ionian Sea.

At the front of the resort, you have the three water slides, pool, children’s pool and the pool bar. You also have the entertainment stage for set programmes.

There are 180 contemporary rooms set across 12 houses, in the middle of this beautiful oasis. The one-bedroom suites are located in the first building which comes equipped with a shared swim-up pool, a private patio, large bathroom and bathtub. The guest rooms and suites combine marine decor and light wood furniture with all the modern facilities you need for an enjoyable stay. The beds were super comfortable, and linen and towels were super soft and clean.

Luckily for us, we were adjacent to the well-equipped children’s playground, and even with that, our room was always peaceful.

Right at the back of the hotel, you’ll find all your main sports fields and courts.

Service

Upon arrival, we met some of the concierge team who helped with our luggage. There was a couple of occasions where we rang/messaged or needed something, and we had to wait or had called again for reminders. However, when they did come, the team was super responsive but most importantly, always polite super friendly, especially with our boys, and they offered so many brilliant suggestions for our itinerary.

Food and More

The resort offers a Mini/ Kids Club for 4 – 12-year olds and activities as well as spa time. I would be lying if I said, I fully partook in any of that. I truly wanted to relax, to lay on the beach, to lay on my patio’s sunbed, to watch the sunrise and set over the mountain peaks and to eat to my heart’s content. So, I can speak on that with much more specificity.

Breakfast is a buffet spread. The best thing about the menu is that it offered a significant number of Greek food items to counter the more tourist palate friendly items. I’m all for the culture.

There is a duo of dining options from casual to a la carte, but the a la carte was only open for one of the days we were there. Helio, the main buffet restaurant was perfect for us as it served each of our culinary palettes. So, we enjoyed lunch and dinner there too. I can distinctly remember the garden-fresh salads, seafood galore and every type of meat and poultry you can think of (veal, duck, lamb, and so much more). Both boys truly enjoyed trying everything; we can all testify to so much flavour across all the dishes.

Due to COVID, you are required to make a booking slot for lunch and dinner at the reception desk. This wasn’t too strenuous, and they were quite flexible given it wasn’t too busy and there is ample space.

After dinner the boys enjoyed the mini disco which took place downstairs or outdoors when the weather was lovely, this was the perfect antidote to prepare them for their bedtime -I couldn’t ask for anything more to be quite honest. Even with the season coming to an end, the boys were well catered for and thoroughly enjoyed some of the facilities available to them. This was truly an enjoyable and relaxing stay for our entire family.

This is a press trip, sponsored by Almyros Hotel Resort and Spa in exchange for an honest and transparent review. As always, my views remain my own.
